    El Salvador, Guatemala to meet in beach friendly

    SAN SALVADOR, El Salvador – El Salvador and Guatemala will meet in a beach soccer friendly on November 16 in Houston, Texas, the Salvadoran Football Federation announced Thursday.

    At the recently completed FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup, the Salvadorans advanced to the quarterfinals, before narrowly falling to eventual runner-up Spain, 2-1.

    Agustin Ruiz led the Central American side in Tahiti with seven goals in four games, including a memorable five-goal performance in a 7-6 win over the Solomon Islands.

    The match against Guatemala will be El Salvador’s first on American soil in beach soccer.
