SAN SALVADOR, El Salvador – With an eye towards February’s CONCACAF Beach Soccer Championship in the Bahamas, El Salvador called up 18 players for a four-day minicamp, December 19-22, the Federación Salvadoreña de Fútbol announced Saturday.
The Salvadorans are coming off a gold-medal winning performance in the III Juegos Bolivarianos, where they posted an overall record of 4W-0D-1L, including a 5-3 win over Paraguay in the final.
Agustin Ruiz and Ruben Batres, each of whom scored two goals against the Paraguayans, highlight the selection, which also features four-time World Cup veteran Tomas Hernandez.
El Salvador will meet the Turks & Caicos Islands in its CONCACAF Beach Soccer Championship opener on February 21, before closing Group D play against Panama (February 22) and Costa Rica (February 23).
