    Dominican Republic & Puerto Rico open quadrangular with victories

    The Dominican Republic and the host Puerto Rico opened the International Under-20 Quadrangular Tournament "Festival Olímpico de Fútbol" with victories over Puerto Rico's U-15 team and US Virgin Islands, respectively, at the Estadio del Complejo Deportivo Roberto Clemente in the city of Carolina on Friday evening.

    The Dominican Republic began the four-team event with a 2:0 win over Puerto Rico's U-15 squad, who replaced St. Vincent & The Grenadines' U-20 team, while the boricuas topped the US Virgin Islands 8:1.

    The quadrangular continues at the Estadio Roberto Clemente Walker on Saturday evening with US Virgin Islands against Dominican Republic at 18:00 and then Puerto Rico take on the U-15 team at 20:00.

    All four teams are in early preparations for the football competition at the Central American & Caribbean Games that will take place in Cartagena, Colombia next year.
