Deportivo Saprissa & San Francisco FC book their places in the last eight

Deportivo Saprissa of Costa Rica and Panamanian outfit San Francisco FC both booked their places in the last eight of the Torneo Interclubes de UNCAF following the second legs of their opening round fixtures.

Deportivo Saprissa, who have won the CONCACAF Champions' Cup™ on three separate occasions - the most recent of which was in 2005 - lost 1:0 to Once Municipal of El Salvador but progressed to the quarter finals as a result of their 5:2 win in the first leg in San José.

In the other game of the evening, San Francisco upset two time Champions' Cup winners CD Olimpia of Honduras with a 1:0 victory on the night following a 0:0 stalemate in Panama a week ago.

In total 16 Central American clubs are competing in the first round of the Torneo Interclubes de UNCAF 2007 which is a home-and-away series elimination tournament.

The UNCAF tournament quarterfinals will take place in September with the semifinals set for October. The three Central American clubs will be joined by defending champion Pachuca CF (MEX), another Mexican side, two teams from USA along with one from the Caribbean at the 2008 CONCACAF Champions' Cup™.

In addition to becoming the CONCACAF Champion, the winner will also have the chance to play as the CONCACAF representative against the world's best teams in the 2008 FIFA Club World Cup, while the Champions' Cup runner-up will be one of the three CONCACAF invitees to the 2008 Copa Nissan Sudamerican
