Costa Rica unveils Gold Cup roster

SAN JOSE, Costa Rica -- Costa Rica announced Wednesday the names of 24 players that will begin training on June 24 for next month's CONCACAF Gold Cup.

The roster is comprised of 13 domestic-based players and 11 performing abroad. It is highlighted by inclusion of Alvaro Saborio, Costa Rica's top scorer in this World Cup Qualifying cycle with seven goals (no other player has more than two). The Real Salt Lake forward has three career Gold Cup tallies.

Also in the squad is Celso Borges of Sweden's AIK. The 25-year-old has appeared in two previous Gold Cups (2009, 2011) and has two goals in nine games.

Head coach Jorge Luis Pinto will have to cut his selection by one player before leaving for the United States.

Costa Rica will open its Gold Cup campaign against Cuba on July 9 in Portland, Oregon, before facing Belize (July 13) and the United States (July 16) to complete Group C play.
