    Costa Rica to meet Scotland, Tunisia in March friendlies

    SAN JOSE, Costa Rica – Costa Rica will travel to Europe for a pair of international friendlies, facing host Scotland on March 23 and then traveling to France for a meeting with Tunisia four days later, the Federación Costarricense de Fútbol announced Friday.

    The games are being used as part of the Ticos’ 2018 FIFA World Cup preparations, which also include a match at England on June 7.

    In their only previous encounter, Costa Rica earned a 1-0 over Scotland at the 1990 World Cup, with Juan Cayasso striking for the game-winner in the 49th minute.

    Costa Rica and Tunisia have never previously squared off.
