    Costa Rica falls to Japan at FIFA U-20 World Cup

    Costa Rica were beaten 1:0 by Japan in a Group F encounter on Wednesday during the FIFA U-20 World Cup Canada 2007 at Royal Athletic Park in Victoria, British Columbia.

    After a scoreless first half, Atomu Tanaka notched the game-winner for Japan (2-0-0 6 Points) against Costa Rica (0-2-0, 0 Points).

    In the other Group F game at the Royal Athletic Park on Wednesday, two goals by Ezekiel Bala led Nigeria (2-0-0, 6 Points) to a 2:0 triumph over Scotland (0-2-0, 0 Points).

    The 2007 FIFA U-20 World Cup continues for the CONCACAF teams on Thursday as Canada (0-1-0, 0 Points) takes on Austria (0-0-1, 1 Point) in a Group A match at the Commonwealth Stadium in Edmonton, Alberta, while Mexico (1-0-0, 3 Points) faces Portugal (1-0-0, 3 Points) in Group C play at the BMO Field in Toronto, Ontario.

    The top two teams in each of the six groups, plus the four best third-place teams will advance to the knockout stage at the FIFA U-20 World Cup Canada 2007.
