CONCACAF.com provides an offering of storylines for you to follow during domestic league action this weekend:

    CANADA

Although Vancouver Whitecaps FC (15W-6D-11L, 51 points) have already secured a Major League Soccer post-season berth, it still hasn’t wrapped up the Western Conference title.  A win over the visiting San Jose Earthquakes (12-6-14) can go a long way toward making that happen.  Whitecaps FC has lost two of its last three games.

    COSTA RICA

First-place Herediano’s remarkable 2017 Invierno campaign continues Sunday, when it visits fifth-place Limon (5-5-3, 20).  The Florenses (10-3-0, 33) – eight points ahead of second-place Saprissa -- are unbeaten in 13 games, including wins in their last five outings.

    EL SALVADOR

Unbeaten Alianza (9-4-0, 31) has opened a 10-point lead in the 2017 Apertura, but that record will tested Sunday in a visit to second-place Santa Tecla (5-6-2, 21) at the Estadio Delicias.

    HONDURAS

Table-topping Marathon (6-1-3, 19) will put its four-match winning streak on the line Sunday against last-place host Platense (2-1-6, 7).

    MEXICO

The Liga MX Apertura poses numerous stories to follow this weekend.  On Saturday, first-place Monterrey (7-3-0, 24) will risk its 10-game unbeaten run to open the season against visiting Pachuca (4-1-6, 13), while Leon’s Mauro Boselli will look to extend his eight-game scoring streak against Tigres.  Leon owns the league’s longest-active winning streak at four games.

    NICARAGUA

Second-place Walter Ferretti (10-3-2, 33) can jump into first place with a win at third-place Diriangen (5-6-4, 21) on Saturday and if first-place Real Esteli (11-2-2, 35) loses to host Managua (6-2-7, 20) a day later.  Managua is red hot and will enter the match on a four-game winning streak.

    PANAMA

A 12-game unbeaten run has seen Tauro FC (7-6-1, 27) take over first place in the 2017 Apertura, leading second-place Plaza Amador on goal difference (+10 to +9).  On Saturday, the Toros de Pedregal could create greater separation with a win over Sporting San Miguelito (2-7-5, 13) and a Plaza Amador draw or loss to visiting Arabe Unido (6-8-0, 26).

    TRINIDAD & TOBAGO

The TT Pro League is idle this weekend and will return to action with a trio of games on October 17.  First-place North East Stars, however, will host Point Fortin Civic in the quarterfinals of the 2017 First Citizens Cup (the League Cup).

    USA

Sporting Kansas City (12-12-8, 48) continues pursuit of the Major League Soccer Western Conference crown Sunday against the visiting Houston (12-10-10, 46).  Vancouver Whitecaps FC currently sits first (15-6-11, 51) and possesses a three-point lead over SKC, which is winless in its last three games.
