    CONCACAF Weekend Watch (Dec. 1-3, 2017)

    CONCACAF.com provides an offering of storylines for you to follow during domestic league action this weekend:

    Toronto FC is idle this weekend, but on Wednesday, it secured a place in a second straight MLS Cup final, earning a 1-0 over visiting Columbus Crew SC in the second leg of their Eastern Conference final. The series opener on November 21 ended in a 0-0 draw. Jozy Altidore’s 60th-minute goal proved to be the difference. Toronto FC hopes to earn its first MLS crown on December 9, when it hosts Seattle Sounders FC in the championship match.

    The second round of 2017 Invierno Quadrangular play takes place on Sunday:

    Perez Zeledon (1W-0D-0L, 3 points) v Santos de Guapiles (0-1-0, 1)
    Herediano (0-0-1, 0) v Saprissa (0-1-0, 1)

    Quarterfinal, second-leg play is the weekend’s featured action:

    3 Isidro Metapan v 6 Chalatenango (agg: 1-0)

    2 Santa Tecla v 7 Municipal Limeño (agg: 0-0)
    1 Alianza v 8 Pasaquina (agg: 0-0)
    4 FAS v 5 Aguila (agg: 0-0)

    Playoffs for semifinal berths will continue on Saturday as host Real España will take a 3-2 lead into the second leg against Juticalpa. In Thursday’s opener, the Aurinegros got goals from Mario Martinez (7’), Ivan Lopez (55’) and Francisco Arevalo (73’), while Hilder Colon (23’, 59’) struck twice for Juticalpa.

    In the other series, Thursday’s first-leg between UPNFM and Olimpia was postponed. A decision will be made Friday in regard to rescheduling the match.

    First-place Arnett Gardens (7-5-0, 26) is off until Monday, so the game to watch this weekend will be played a day earlier as second-place Portmore United (6-4-2, 22) hosts seventh-place Montego Bay United (4-3-4, 15). Portmore United has not conceded a goal in four straight matches.

    The Liga MX Apertura semifinals continue this weekend with second-leg play:

    2 Tigres v 3 Club America (agg: 1-0)

    1 Monterrey v 4 Morelia (agg: 1-0)

    There’s everything to play in the second leg of the 2017 Apertura final as Walter Ferretti hosts Managua on Saturday. The first leg on November 25 ended in a 1-1 draw.

    On Saturday, Arabe Unido and Chorrillo FC will meet in the 2017 Apertura at the Estadio Rommel Fernandez. Arabe Unido is searching for its 16th title, while Chorrillo FC hopes to lift the trophy for the third time.

    Defending champion Seattle Sounders FC is idle this weekend, but it secured Thursday a place the MLS Cup final, topping the visiting Houston in the second leg of their Western Conference final, 3-0, to capture the series 5-0 on aggregate. Victor Rodriguez (27’), Clint Dempsey (57’) and Will Bruin (73’) scored in a winning effort. Seattle will visit Toronto FC in the MLS Cup final on December 9.
