Our heartfelt condolences go out to the family of Katherine Jimenez, on the unfortunate passing of the FIFA Assistant Referee from Costa Rica.

The football family has lost a passionate young referee who had a promising future ahead. Her personality, competitiveness, dedication and commitment to the sport, will certainly inspire younger athletes.

Jimenez was appointed by CONCACAF and UNCAF to several tournaments, including the 2015 CONCACAF Under-20 Women's Championship. She had recently achieved a major milestone in her career as a representative of the Confederation in the Algarve Cup 2016, a global invitational tournament held in Portugal for women's national teams.

She leaves her imprint on and off the field. Katherine will surely be remembered as an inspirational role model within her community.
