2017 will be remembered as the year that Hirving Lozano established himself as one of the world’s top young players.  The 22-year-old helped lead Pachuca to the 2016/17 Scotiabank CONCACAF League title, earning the Golden Boot (8 goals, including a pair late in the key 3-1 win over visiting FC Dallas in the semifinal, second leg) and the Scotiabank Best Young Player Award.  He played a key role in Mexico’s qualification for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.  This year (not including 2016), Lozano competed in five CONCACAF qualifiers for the 2018 FIFA World Cup (scored three goals in those outings).  In three FIFA Confederations Cup outings he netted once – the game-winning goal in a 2-1 win over host Russia.  Through November 5, 2017, Lozano scored nine goals in nine games for PSV Eindhoven in the Dutch Eredivisie.
