In the Group 1 opener, Inter Moengotapoe (Suriname) outlasted CS Moulien (Guadeloupe), 3-2, on Romeo Kastiel’s second goal of the game in the second minute of second-half stoppage. W Connection were forced to rally from deficits twice as Nelson Benitez (7’) and Dominican Republic international Kerbi Rodriguez (66’) gave the Dominican runner-up leads of 1-0 and 2-1, respectively. The Savonetta Boys, though, were powered by a pair of two-goal performances from Jomal Williams (32’, 68’) and Jamal Charles (77’, 90’). In last year’s Caribbean final, Central FC – also of Trinidad & Tobago -- topped W Connection, 2-1, for its first international title. The CFU champion, runner-up and winner of the third-place match will earn places in the 2016/17 SCCL. 2016 CARIBBEAN FOOTBALL UNION CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP First Round GROUP 1 (Ato Boldon Stadium -- Couva, Trinidad & Tobago) February 24, 2016 Inter Moengotapoe 3, CS Moulien 2 own-goal, Cedric Vamur 26’; Romeo Kastiel 31’, 90’+2 / Steve Bizasene 47’; Willis Francillonne 64’ DirecTV W Connection 4, Atlantico FC 2 Jomal Williams 32’, 68’; Jamal Charles 77’, 90’ / Nelson Benitez 7’; Kerbi Rodriguez 66’ TABLE
