    CFCC: Borussia impresses in debut

    GUATEMALA CITY, Guatemala – Costa Rica’s made history on Wednesday at the Domo Polideportivo, defeating Sidekicks of Mexico 5-0 in the first-ever CONCACAF Futsal Club Championship match. 

    The Costa Rican champion got goals from five different players.

    Scoring Summary:
    1-0  Diego Zúñiga, Borussia (11:04)
    2-0  Johan Castro, Borussia (12:08)
    3-0  Minor Calbaceta, Borussia (15:43)
    4-0  Marco Lopez, Borussia (25:38)
    5-0  Edwin Cubilla, Borussia (34:24)

    With the Group B win, the Lions extended their unbeaten streak to 54 consecutive games in all competitions.

    "It was a working triumph,” team captain Edwin Cubilla told CONCACAF.com.  “At first we struggled, but we gradually gained confidence. It is always important to start with a win,  We have team to reach the final.”

    While Borussia will enjoy an off day, Sidekicks will return to action on Thursday against Canada’s Futsal Club Toronto.

Canada Soccer has announced Tuesday that its men's national futsal team will hold an evaluation camp from March 18-20 in advance of a two-match series against the United States from which one will qualify for the upcoming CONCACAF Futsal Championship.
