    EL SALVADOR

With a 2-1 win over Juventud Independiente (15 points), FAS (22 points) increased its lead atop the Clausura standings to six points.  Alejandro Bentos (26’) and Gerson Mayen (37’) scored first-half goals for the Tigres, whose stingy defense has now conceded one goal or less in 11 straight games dating back to last year.

Second-place Isidro Metapan (16 points) fell 1-0 at Santa Tecla (12 points).  The Jaguares have followed a win with a loss over the last six rounds.

Coatepeque (21 points) climbed to second place in the Clausura table, rallying for a 2-1 win at Iztapa (7 points).  Agustin Herrera broke a 1-1 deadlock with an 89th minute strike.

First-place Universidad de San Carlos (23 points) failed to win for the fourth time in five outings after dropping a 1-0 decision at Suchitepequez (18 points).

It was a magical day for legendary Guatemala striker Carlos Ruiz (26’, 69’, 78’), who scored all three goals in Municipal’s (17 points) 3-2 victory over Heredia (18 points). Ruiz now has four goals on the season.

Chorrillo (20 points) jumped into a first-place tie with Alianza thanks to a 3-1 victory at Independiente (10 points).  Richard Dixon made it 2-1 for the eventual winner just before the break, while Justin Arboleda (54’) added a penalty kick before being ejected three minutes from full time.

Alianza, which officially trails Chorrillo (17 points) on goal difference, played to a 2-2 draw with host Sporting San Miguelito.

    HONDURAS

It was a festival of draws, as all four matches ended in a share of the spoils.  Second-place Real Sociedad (21 points) was unable to take advantage of leader Olimpia’s (25 points) loss on Thursday, playing to a goalless tie at Platense (15 points). The Realeza has only one win in its last five games.

Ney Costa scored a brace in Deportes Savio’s (8 points) 2-2 draw against Parillas One (15 points).

Other results: Vida 0-0 Victoria, Motagua 1-1 Marathon

    COSTA RICA
