Caymans defeat Puerto Rico on first day of Group B

Despite playing a man down for nearly an hour, Cayman Islands made an 19th minute goal from Jared Yates stand up as they defeated Puerto Rico 1:0 to open Caribbean Zone Group B qualifying in the FC Under-20 Youth Tournament at the Truman Bodden Sporting Complex.

Yates found an opening in the Puerto Rico defence before making his way into the area and getting his shot past 'keeper Eduardo Memendi, giving the hosts the match's only tally.

Puerto Rico now need a win when they play Jamaica in their second and final match on 30 August, while Jamaica and Cayman Islands will play their final matches against one another on Sunday 1 September.

The winner of Group B will advance to play Haiti for a berth in Group B of the FC Final Tournament, to be held in the USA later this year.
