PROVIDENCE, Guyana – Alpha United’s Dwight Peters scored a pair of first-half goals and Guyana posted a 7-0 win over visiting Anguilla on Tuesday night in the 2016/17 Scotiabank CFU Men’s Caribbean Cup opener for both.

Christopher Nurse, Neil Danns and Gregory Richardson also got on the scoresheet within the opening 45 minutes of the Group 5 clash, while Vurlon Mills and Marcel Barrington netted after the break.

The Golden Jaguars went ahead 1-0 in the 11th minute, when Peters finished a well-directed pass from Mills.

Three minutes later, Nurse soared above the defense to head Neil Danns’ corner kick past goalkeeper Kasem Thompson.

Peters completed his brace at the half-hour mark with another header, while Danns made it 4-0 in the 34th minute by ripping a shot right down the middle from outside the area.

Richardson netted Guyana’s fifth in the 45th minute as Mills swelled the advantage to 6-0 just two minutes into the second half.

The scoreline was punctuated in the 65th minute by Barrington, who pounced on the rebound of a fierce Devon Millington shot that Thompson could not gather cleanly.

Anguilla, which hosts Puerto Rico on Saturday, handed 15 year-old Keanu Richardson his international debut.

Guyana will complete Group 5 play with a visit to Puerto Rico on March 29.

In the other matches, Grenada scored all its goals in the second half of a 5-0 win over visiting St. Maarten in Group 2 and, in Group 3, host Cuba held on for a 2-1 win over Bermuda.
