Second-round play in the 2016/17 Scotiabank CFU Men’s Caribbean Cup neared its concluded Tuesday as four additional squads joined Puerto Rico as group winners, while three runners-up also earned advancement.

With Haiti, Jamaica and Trinidad & Tobago starting their campaigns in the third round, 11 of the last 12 participating squads have been decided.

The final team in the field will be confirmed following a determination on the abandoned June 1 game between French Guiana and Bermuda in Group 4.

CONCACAF.com takes a look at the action from the Caribbean’s qualifying competition for the 2017 CONCACAF Gold Cup.

Group 1 … Calaum Jahraldo-Martin (67’, 83’) scored and Antigua & Barbuda sealed second place in Group 1 with a 5-1 win over visiting Grenada. All the goals were scored in the second half, starting with Peter Byers’ 51st minute strike to give the host a 1-0 lead. Jamal Charles (73’) netted the lone goal for Grenada, which was eliminated.

Group 2 … Martinique moved to a perfect 4-0-0 after the opening two rounds with a 4-0 win at Dominica. Four different players got their names on the scoresheet (three in the second half), including Steeven Langil, who shares team’s scoring lead with Yoann Arquin on two goals each. Second-place Guadeloupe can advance depending on what happens in Group 4, which has yet to be completed.

Group 3 … Curacao sewed up the group title with a 7-0 victory over the visiting and now-eliminated US Virgin Islands, a result that sees Guyana advance. Gino van Kessel (2’, 24’, 50’) struck for a hat trick, lifting his tournament haul to six goals. Felitciano Zschusschen (10’, 54’) netted a brace and has six total goals also.

Group 4 … Jonathan Faña Farias (47’, 53’) made it three goals in two games, tallying twice in the Dominican Republic’s come-from-behind 2-1 win over visiting French Guiana. The group runner-up is yet to be decided, since the French Guiana-Bermuda match was abandoned due to a waterlogged pitch.

Group 5 … St. Kitts & Nevis captured first place in Group 5 with a 1-0 win at St. Vincent & the Grenadines, a result that eliminated the Vincentians, who are still involved in the fourth round of CONCACAF qualifying for the 2018 FIFA World Cup. Javeim Blanchette (6’) netted for the visitor, which has scored only five goals in four CFU games -- but has conceded none – while improving to 4-0-0 overall.

Third Round teams (11/12, as of June 8, 2016): Antigua & Barbuda, Curacao, Dominican Republic, Guyana, Haiti, Jamaica, Martinique, Puerto Rico, St. Kitts & Nevis, Suriname, Trinidad & Tobago
