OTTAWA – Canada’s roster for the 2013 FIFA U-17 World Cup was announced Thursday and it contains many of the key performers that led it to a third-place finish at the CONCACAF Under-17 Championship earlier this year.

The 21-player squad (plus three alternates), highlighted by the inclusion of forward Jordan Hamilton, will participate in the 14th edition of the biennial competition, October 17–November 8, in the United Arab Emirates.  Hamilton was Canada’s top scorer in qualifying with three goals.

“I have belief in our team,” said head coach Sean Fleming.  “The commitment and dedication from the boys has been fantastic.”

In Group E play, the Canadians will face Austria (October 19), Iran (October 22) and Argentina (October 25).  All three matches will be played in Dubai.

Canada is making its second straight appearance in the competition after not qualifying from the 1997 – 2009.

Ahead of the competition, Fleming will train his team in UAE from October 5-14 October.
