OTTAWA -- Canada will return to action for the first time since being eliminated from qualifying for the 2018 FIFA World Cup, when it faces Mauritania on October 7 and Morocco on October 11. Both games will be played in Marrakech, Morocco.

Canada Soccer also announced that Michael Findlay will take charge of the squad as interim head coach. The 52-year-old was an assistant under previous manager Benito Floro, whose contract option was not picked up after the Canadians finished third in their fourth-round qualifying group. Findlay has served as a coach in the men’s national team program for 12 years.

Canada has only two wins in its history against African opposition, but most recently played Ghana to a scoreless in Washington, D.C., on October 13, 2015.

The Canadians have identical 0W-1D-1L records against Mauritania and Morocco.
