MONTREAL – Canada scored at the end of each half to earn a 2-1 win over visiting Curacao in an international friendly on Tuesday night at the Stade Saputo.

Both sides are preparing for July’s CONCACAF Gold Cup, while Curacao also has the 2016-17 Scotiabank CFU Men’s Caribbean Cup semifinals to contest later this month.

Anthony Jackson-Hamel completed a Canadian comeback and struck for the game-winning goal in the 86th minute.  The sequence started when 16-year-old debutant Alphonso Davies was fouled in the box for a penalty kick.  Junior Hoilett’s subsequent effort from the spot crashed off the woodwork and was cleared by Curacao for a throw in.

Canada took it quickly, giving Russell Teibert an opportunity to fire it at goal.  On this clearance, Canada’s Samuel Piette got the ball to Jackson-Hamel, who fired it in from long range.

Curacao struck first in the 43rd minute as an unmarked Rangelo Janga left-footed past goalkeeper Milan Borjan from 10-yards out off a feed from Gevaro Nepomuceno in the left side of the box.

Two minutes later, the score was leveled.  Curaçao goalkeeper Eloy Room couldn’t hold onto Will Johnson’s long free kick, allowing Manjrekar James to net from nine yards.

In addition to Davies, Canada head coach Octavio Zambrano gave senior debuts to Raheem Edwards, Mark-Anthony Kaye, and Juan Cordova.
