OTTAWA -- Canada announced a 22-man roster Friday for pair of away friendlies against the Czech Republic and Slovenia, on November 15 and 19, respectively.

The Canadians will be based in Bad Waltersdorf, Austria, for the duration their camp

“From here to the first official games [2018 World Cup Qualifying matches], it’s important to focus on our level of play,” said Canada head coach Benito Floro.  “It is necessary to pay attention in how we defend and attack so for me the best result is to take it step by step to improve our level.”

The impact de Montreal’s Karl W. Ouimette received his first call-up to the senior team after putting himself in the picture during his second season with the Major League Soccer side.

The defender, 21, was a starter in six of seven regular-season appearances, scoring his first goal as a professional on October 19 in a 2-1 victory over the visiting Philadelphia Union.  He also started one game in the Canadian championship and another in the CONCACAF Champions League.

Ouimette initially made a name for himself with the country’s youth squads, representing Canada in the 2009 CONCACAF Under-17 Championship in Tijuana, Mexico.
