CHICAGO -- Midfielder Kyle Beckerman did not have to go very far to join the United States national team for Tuesday's World Cup qualifier against Honduras.
That's because the game will be in Sandy, Utah, home of his club side, Real Salt Lake.
Beckerman on Friday was added to Jurgen Klinsmann's roster in order bolster midfield depth and as cover for injuries.
The 31-year-old, who has made 25 international appearances, served as team captain in the scoreless tie with Canada on in Houston on Jan. 29. He started in central midfield in the historic 1-0 win over Mexico on Aug. 15, 2012, the Americans' first victory against its biggest rival on Mexican soil.
In first place in the CONCACAF hexagonal, the U.S. (3-1-1, 10 points) is riding a 22-2-0 unbeaten streak at home in qualifying and is coming off a 2-0 victory over against Panama. Honduras (2-1-2, 7 pts.) is in fourth place.
