    Bahamas wins, Mexico falls in Beach Soccer WC

    NASSAU, Bahamas – On Monday, Mexico and host Bahamas ended their participation in the 2017 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup (BSWC) in different ways at National Beach Soccer Arena. The Mexicans returned home winless, but Bahamas made a historical mark on the competition.

    Here’s a recap of each match:

    CONCACAF Summaries – May 1, 2017

    Group B: Italy 8, Mexico 1
    Michel Di Palma 2'39"; Emmanuele Zurlo 16'01"; Paolo Palmacci 16'56", 25'47"; Gabriele Gori 19'24", 24'00", 30'33"; Dario Ramacciotti 33'51" / Ramon Maldonado 34'11"

    - Mexico was eliminated following its third loss in as many games.
    - Gabriele Gori (19'24", 24'00", 30'33") scored three goals for Italy, lifting his total to a tournament-best 11.
    - Eight of Italy’s 16 shots on target found the back of the net.
    - Mexico’s Ramon Maldonado (34'11") scored the game’s last goal.
    - Mexico, which finished in fourth place, lost its first two games by only one goal (2-3 v Iran, 4-5 aet v Nigeria)

    Group A: Bahamas 4, Ecuador 1
    Jean Francois 18'13", 32'49"; Lesly St. Fleur 21'44"; Kyle Williams 33'14" / Segundo Moreira 28'38"

    - Despite being eliminated prior to kickoff, Bahamas gave the home supporters plenty for which to cheer by posting its first-ever BSWC win and finishing in third place.
    - Jean Francois (18'13", 32'49") scored two goals in victory, giving Bahamas leads of 1-0 and 3-1.
    - Lesly St. Fleur (21'44") scored his second of the competition for the host, while Kyle Williams (33'14") netted his first to complete the scoreline.
    - Ecuador had more attempts than Bahamas (51-37).
    - Bahamas lost its opening two games (2-3 v Switzerland, 1-10 v Senegal).
    - 3,400 fans attended the match.

    CONCACAF champion Panama, which lost its opening two matches, will meet second-place Paraguay in Group C play on Tuesday.
