    GROUP B

    at George Town, Cayman Islands (Truman Bodden Sports Complex)

    Jamaica 1, Belize 3

    GOALS:  Jourdain Fletcher 64’ – Alvin Sifontes 5’, Randy Augustine 7’; Mark Samuels 53’

    Man of the Match:  Randy Augustine (Belize)

    Belize scored two goals early in the first half and went on to defeat Jamaica, 3-1.  The result improved the Central American side to 2-0-0, while Jamaica lost for the first time in three games (2-0-1, 6 points).  A fifth minute strike from Alvin Sifontes – his second goal of the competition – put Belize up 1-0, a lead that was doubled only two minutes later by Man of the Match Randy Augustine.  Mark Samuels completed the impressive victory with a 53rd minute tally.  Jourdain Fletcher netted a consolation goal with six minutes in regulation to make it 3-1.  The young Reggae Boyz had not conceded a goal in its previous two outings.

    Guatemala 5, St. Lucia 1

    GOAL:  Esteban Velasquez 5’, 28’, 46’; Francisco Spross Cifuentes 17’, 21’ –

    Man of the Match:  Esteban Velasquez (Guatemala)

    Esteban Velasquez scored three and Guatemala defeated St. Lucia, 5-1.  The result left the Guatemalans (2-0-0, +9 GD), Belize (2-0-0, +3 GD) and Jamaica (2-0-1, +4 GD) with a share of first place in Group B on six points each.  Jamaica, however, has played one more game.  After topping Grenada 5-0 the evening before, Guatemala turned in an equally impressive performance against St. Lucia, which had conceded only three goals in its first two games.  Velasquez (5 goals) and Spross Cifuentes (3 goals) have combined to net eight of the Chapines’ 10 goals in the tournament.  Second-half substitute Ekiel Greenidge scored St. Lucia’s first goal after 194 minutes of play.  Guatemala next meets Belize on Sunday in an encounter that could be pivotal in determining the group winner.
