    Aguilas de Leon, UNAN win again in Central American Women’s Inter-Club Championship

    MANAGUA, Nicaragua – Nicaraguan football history was made Wednesday as both Aguilas de Leon and UNAN Managua won to finish first in their respective groups at the 2017 Central American Women’s Inter-Club Championship.

    The sides -- along with UPNFM (Honduras) and Moravia (Costa Rica) -- advanced to the semifinals, which will be contested Friday, also at the Estadio Nacional.

    - Jansy Aguirre scored the first goal in a second straight game as Aguilas de Leon earned a 4-0 win over UPNFM.

    - Sheyla Flores struck for a brace taking her goal total to a tournament-best five.

    - Ninoska Solis also scored in a winning effort and now has three goals in the competition.

    - With the victory, Aguilas de Leon will head to the semifinals as the Group A champion, while UPNFM will also progress as the runner-up.

    - For the second consecutive year Moravia lost its last match in the first round, falling 1-0 to UNAN Managua.

    - Shelly Treminio (37’) scored the game’s only goal minutes before halftime.

    - After conceding five goals in last year’s group stage, UNAN Managua allowed  only one in the current edition to finish atop the Group B table.  Moravia advanced to the semifinals as the runner-up.

    - Moravia also lost its last first-round game last year, but still went on to capture the title.
